Just updated both Evolution X 10.9 with Google Apps and Evolution X 10.9 Vanilla (version without any Google Apps) images with a build including September 2025 security patches.

Following the walkthrough on how to run Evolution X on the Google Pixel 3a, I have been using the Android custom rom distribution on a Samsung Galaxy S10 as my daily driver.
I got curious about the process of building it myself, and decided to take the experiment with a Pixel 4a, for which Google ended official software support in 2023 with Android 13.
Evolution X provided an alternative with a custom update to Android 14 for the device, so I picked it up from there and built an update to Android 15, with some help from the community and following the project documentation (yes, they do have useful documentation !).
Long story short, the experiment was successful and I came up with two versions of Evolution X, allowing one to update the Pixel 4a to Android 15:
- Evolution X 10.9 with Google Apps included and its recovery image,
- Evolution X 10.9 Vanilla, without any Google Apps, and its associated recovery image.
